A delightful pair of Kōwhai earrings cleverly cast in sterling silver from an original Tania Mallow carving, finished with a sterling silver hooks.

The Kōwhai flower is a beautiful and iconic New Zealand native treasure. It is often paired with the Tūī bird as they are almost inseparable. If there is a Kōwhai tree, a Tūī will not be far away. The Kōwhai flower is one of the brightest in the family of native New Zealand flowers. For the most part New Zealand flowers are quite reserved yet the Kōwhai sings loudly in its rich yellow jacket and skirt.

Like many of Tania Mallow’s other pieces these earrings are created with comfort and quality at the forefront. They are double sided with the detail carved into both the front and back. The Kōwhai flowers are enhanced by a skillful oxidization technique which brings the carved lines to life.

Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% pure silver. The alloy composition results in a metal that is very durable and long lasting. Sterling silver is easily polished using a polishing cloth. Tania Mallow jewellery is certified sterling silver.
