How you can help

There are so many ways you can make a difference in the lives of New Zealand's wild birds. We believe that everyone has something unique to offer. If you would like to get involved in any of the activities below, or if you have other ideas about how to contribute, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer to join our team

As a small team, we rely heavily on our wonderful team of volunteers to help us care for the 6000+ birds who come through our doors every year.

From administrative tasks, running errands and making deliveries to gardening, maintenance and hands-on bird care, our volunteers contribute to just about every aspect of running the centre.

Whether or not you have direct experience with birds, we can provide training for you – it’s your availability and willingness to help that really matter.

If you would like to join our team as a volunteer, are based in Auckland and are over 18 years of age, please see the list of currently available volunteer roles below or contact volunteer@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz for more information.

Fundraise for the birds

From holding a bake sale to organising a sponsored walk, run, swim or movie night, fundraisers are a lot of fun.

Not only will you raise much-needed funds to support our work, you will also increase awareness about New Zealand’s incredible birdlife.

Register your fundraiser on GiveaLittle to get started. Please also email support@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz and let us know your plans!

Involve your company

Volunteering as a workplace team is not only a fun team-building activity, but is also a great way to connect with your local community and provide much-needed support for our staff.

If you would like to find out more about how your team can help, please email volunteer@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz.
