How you can help

There are many ways you can make a difference in the lives of Aotearoa's wild birds. We believe that everyone has something unique to offer. If you would like to get involved in any of the activities below, or if you have other ideas about how to contribute, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer with us

As a small team, we rely heavily on our wonderful team of volunteers to help us care for the 6500+ birds who come through our doors every year.

From administrative tasks, running errands and making deliveries to gardening, maintenance and hands-on bird care, our volunteers contribute to just about every aspect of running the centre.

Prior experience with birds is not essential as we will provide training. It’s your availability, reliability, and willingness to help that really matter.

If you would like to join our team as a volunteer, are based in Auckland and are over 18 years of age, please see the list of currently available volunteer roles below or email volunteer@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz for more information.

Sponsorship and Partnerships

BirdCare Aotearoa is currently seeking sponsors and partners to help support our world-class, life saving service for rescued wild birds.

In return, we can provide advertising and promotion via our extensive network, social media channels and onsite at the facility. Updates and footage can also be provided for promotional purposes.

Please contact support@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz to discuss options.

Involve your company

Volunteering as a workplace team is not only a brilliant team-building activity, but is also a great way to connect with your local community and provide much-needed support for our small team.

To find out more about how your workplace can get involved, please email volunteer@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz.

Fundraise for the birds

From holding a bake sale to organising a sponsored walk, run, swim or movie night, fundraisers are a lot of fun.

Not only will you raise much-needed funds to support our work, you will also increase awareness about Aotearoa’s incredible birdlife.

You can hold an independent fundraiser or register your fundraiser on Givealittle.

Please email support@birdcareaotearoa.org.nz and let us know your plans so we can invite you for a visit and give you a big thank you on behalf of the birds!
