A big thank you to the UoA Alumni volunteers who helped tackle the climbing asparagus 'plantation' last week.
This involved some tough and precarious walking through the many hectares of bush on our BirdCare Aotearoa property which backs onto the Manukau Harbour.
The climbing asparagus is a difficult weed to work with but the team worked well together and made a significant dent. There is still plenty left though!
Our bush is full of nikau, from new regenerating plants to very old trees. And the volunteers delighted in the learnings, the positive vibes and the beautiful surroundings. Thanks you very much!!
There are further volunteer days planned for during the week when the weather is a bit drier, so if you'd like to help us win the war against climbing asparagus...
